Roush Stretches Hit String to 40
Friday, July 2nd, 1926: Pirates center fielder Edd Roush was beaming today after his team had beaten St. Louis 5-4 at Sportsman's Park. He had contributed 1 hit to the victory and extended his hitting streak to 40 games.

"Life is good when the hits keep coming like they have in the last few weeks. I hope I can keep it up a little while longer."
E. Roush grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

For the season Roush is batting .390 with 146 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 63 times and batted in 52.
Barnes Nabs NL Monthly Rookie Award
Thursday, July 1st, 1926: Youngster Red Barnes emerged as the latest National League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Cleveland deserved the honor, batting .297 with 1 home run and 15 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Barnes enjoy the limelight.

This season Barnes has hit at a .286 clip and produced 34 runs batted in, 4 home runs and 40 runs.
